Number of Staff in Governance Function
Hi everyone
How many staff members do you have supporting your University's governance function?
We have 4.5 staff in the Corporate Governance unit at Griffith. Primary functions include secretariat support for Council and 3 x Council committees, executive support for the Chancellor and Deputy Chancellor, policy (including the Policy Library and Policy Governance Framework), delegations (including maintenance and advice on the Delegations Register and Delegations Framework), elections, annual report (with Marketing and Comms and VC's Office), general advice on governance and oversight of governance compliance.
Apologise for posting this question. I wasn't able to find the AAUS benchmarking data.
Thank you in advance to anyone able to assist.
Best wishes
Bec (Griffith Uni)

Hi Bec
At Uni of Adelaide, we do much the same functions: Secretariat function for Council and its sub-committees (6 sub-committees plus Academic Board) - including the usual quality control over papers, issuing agendas and papers (mostly) through Diligent, meetings/minutes, workplans etc, we run all university elections (Council, Academic Board, UniSuper Reps, Alumni Council, Faculty Boards), we manage the policy and delegations frameworks and data bases, provide exec support for the Chancellor; plus input into the annual report (with Marketing and Comms), general advice on governance and oversight of governance compliance.
We have 3 full time staff:
Director, Governance Services
Manager, Governance Services
Senior Council Officer
Plus we are fortunate to have a couple of casual admin staff members we can call on for assistance with elections or leave coverage when required.
Regards,
Rosie
