Consultancy expenditure

Hi all, just thinking thru CDU's approach to representing consultancy expenditure and wondering how others are approaching it. Current thinking is we will include a more detailed note in our annual financial statements, commencing from 2026 statements onwards. I am not aware of guidance notes or a common approach in the sector. Perhaps a forthcoming SRE might clarify things. Any feedback v much welcomed.

Recommendations - Academic Governance Reviewer

Hi all

The University of Canberra is due to undertake an External Review of Academic Governance and I would welcome any recommendations for reviewers.

The review will consider both the effectiveness of our current academic governance arrangements and emerging challenges facing the sector, including AI, academic quality, student outcomes and evolving regulatory expectations. We are particularly interested in someone who can provide strategic insight rather than simply assess compliance, and who brings a contemporary, future-focused perspective on academic governance.

If you've worked with a reviewer you would recommend, I'd be grateful for any suggestions.

Many thanks,

Stephanie

Review/internal audit of uni-run health clinics

CDU operates a Health Hub that delivers a range of clinical services. I am reaching out to seek advice regarding the governance and quality assurance processes for university-based health clinics, and role of Council and sub-committees. In addition, I would like to organise a review/audit of CDU's Health Hub. Grateful if anyone has relevant experiences to share, in particular names/contacts for someone that could undertake the review. With thanks, Brendon 0488161680

HI Brendan, at Macquarie, we have a University Health Clinics Policy: https://policies.mq.edu.au/document/view.php?id=197&version=1. This policy outlines the Governance arrangements for the University-run clinics. There isn't much involvement from Council or its subcommittees, although they are subject to a regular (internal) audit cycle.

Employment opportunity

The University of Divinity is seeking to recruit a University Secretary and EA to the Vice-Chancellor. This is a full-time (1.0FTE), fixed-term parental leave cover position, within the Office of the Vice-Chancellor, at the University’s main campus in Box Hill, Victoria.

As a small university, this would be an ideal step up for someone with governance officer (or similar) experience. The candidate would commence in early September 2026 (start date by negotiation), and the role will conclude on Friday 18 December 2027.

The job ad is available via the link below, and I'm very happy to have a preliminary chat with anyone interested in applying. https://vox.divinity.edu.au/news/vacancies/employment-opportunity-university-secretary-and-ea-to-the-vice-chancellor/
