Aegrotat and Posthumous Awards
Hi all! The University of Divinity is currently in the process of developing an Aegrotat and Posthumous Awards Policy, and I am looking to better define the circumstances in which an aegrotat award might be granted. I’ve benchmarked policies across the sector, and the phrase that keeps appearing is ‘permanent incapacitation’, but as far as I can see none of the policies actually define what this might look like, what supporting evidence would be required, etc.
I’m wondering if anyone has any insight as to how the term is interpreted and applied within their institution?

Hi - thanks for the responses, some really useful information.
