Controlled Entities
Dear colleagues
I am interested in hearing from universities that have controlled entities. UNSW currently has 16 controlled entities and we want to reduce the number of these and also improve compliance. So we are proposing a resource to assist with implementing a new policy and a project to shut some down.
I would be very grateful for feedback on the following:
How many controlled entities do you have?
Of these, how many are offshore?
How is company secretarial support provided to controlled entities and what is the HEW level? (eg. Governance/committee officers support them, entities have their own cosec, central staff member provides support to entities, etc).
What is the approximate FTE of support provided (if possible - I am more interested if you have a dedicated person).

We have substantially reduced our controlled entities over the last year or so an now only have Menzies and a couple of others. So we don't have special staffing provision for them.
